It is with great sadness, we have to officially say that fall youth soccer is cancelled. Washington County has not progressed to Phase 2 and with all the OHA guidelines and restrictions, including masks for all players even in practice/camps, we don't feel we can provide a safe and fun experience for coaches, players or parents in Phase 1. We have limited field usage, as well as no league or games, and about 50% the number of kids interested as a normal season, which would make teams and participation tough. Our board waited as long as possible and had many many discussions about what we could do to try to still get kids on the field.
We truly want kids to have some fun, and sports are so important for mental and physical health, especially right now. We encourage you to do what you can to help them get out and play soccer (or any other sport), be active, and continue to be excited about the sport! Kick a ball around, work on skills/dribbling/juggling at home, go to the park with family, siblings, or friends and play a pick-up game (socially distanced) or whatever you are comfortable with.
We plan to post and send some at-home drill and game ideas, and maybe do some online social challenges to keep kids engaged in the soccer community. We also hope to have some sort of spring season and look forward to soccer in the future!
Thanks for all your patience and understanding,
